  3. West country sensitivity to the  Hungerford  tragedy  of 18 months ago
  4. has caused middling software house  Hewson  to  change the name of its
  5. forthcoming shoot-em-up.
  6.      The firm was to call the game  Kalashnikov - also the name of the
  7. gun used by the killer Michael Ryan.  However, one member of the staff
  8. thought it would be seen as  bad  taste  to  launch a game with a name
  9. even remotely connected to the disaster in which thirteen people died.
  10. The game is now called Custodians.
  11.      "We're in Abingdon which isn't  very  far  from Hungerford and we
  12. decided it would be too close to home," offered a Hewson spokesperson.
  13. "One of the members of the  members  of  staff had strong views on the
  14. subject and we don't want to offend anyone."
